Easter Eve...

On Saturday before Easter we went to Melissa and Josh's house for the afternoon and evening. We had a blast. From the Easter Egg Hunt to making Empty Tomb Cookies it was a good time had by all....although I think the adults were more exhausted by the end of it than the kids were. First we had an Easter Egg Hunt which Kaiden loved doing at their house because there was money in the eggs. Melissa had a different color of eggs for each kid (6 in all) and then each kid had 8 eggs hidden around the house to find. They had a blast looking for them and then opening them to get all the money. After the hunt we opened Easter baskets. Needless to say all the kids went straight for the candy...even Hunter as you will see below!

Kaiden is looking under the dinosaurs for one of his green Easter eggs.

Hunter thought that the eggs all over the floor were the coolest thing ever!

Here are all the kids opening Easter baskets.

It's the before sucker picture....

and the after...need I say more!

Hunter eating a peanut butter egg that our youth group makes and sells as a fundraiser for our church. As you can see he was a little hungry...

When we were done eating dinner we made Empty Tomb Cookies. It's a recipe that Melissa got e-mailed to her and as you make them you get to walk through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The recipe gives you prompts to talk about with the kids, hands on activities for them to do at each step and corresponding Bible verses you can read. The videos will give you the idea. If you want me to post the recipe let me know!

Here is a video of the kids "beating" the pecans to represent the beating of Jesus.

They got to smell vinegar like they gave Jesus.

Here's Jerry reading the Bible verses to them.

Kaiden always had to help!

This is a video of the kids sealing the "tomb" or oven shut!

And here's what Hunter did while we made the cookies!
