Pumpkin Carving

We took some time today to carve our pumpkins...well at least one of them. We carved Kaiden's pumpkin first and he was not as excited as I thought he'd be. He was convinced that carving your pumpkin meant that we were going back to the pumpkin patch. Needless to say when we didn't he was a little disappointed. Kaiden did help pick out the designs for the pumpkin and even helped dad put the finishing touches on the carving. While Kaiden was easily distracted from the carving Hunter sat and intently watched Jerry carve. He even got his hands into some of the insides of the pumpkin (Kaiden refused to touch it!) and thought it was a little strange. I love the look on his face as he tried to figure out what he was feeling. Here's some pictures of how things went.
Picking out the design for his pumpkin.

I love how the baby is just watching Jerry. He's learning all the tricks so he can carve next year.

Kaiden got to help with the finishing cuts.

Here's the finished product...Kaiden's pumpkin!
I just think this picture is so funny. He's just trying to figure out what this stuff is!

Peas Please

We gave Hunter his first taste of peas today! He totally loved them! He would have kept right on eating them if I'd given him the entire container, but I wanted to start him out a little slow. We'll see how he does tomorrow with them. I think he definitely prefers peas to rice cereal. Hopefully this will start a trend of being a good eater. There are so many ups and downs when it comes to Kaiden and his eating that it would be nice to have a consistently good eater.

Here's a picture and video to show how much he likes them. He reached a point where he took the spoon and helped me to feed him. It was so funny. I had the hardest time getting the spoon back away from him to put more peas on it. He has a very strong grip!

More peas please!

ABC's

Kaiden has found a new love for singing and playing the piano. He often gets out his keyboard and makes you sing songs while he bangs out some incomprehensible tune on the keys. I took these videos while he was singing the ABC's to Hunter. I love how at certain points the baby tries to sing along with him. At times he can think his big brother is so funny and at others he is terrified of him! It's hard telling from moment to moment how it will be. These were some good moments and he thought he was hilarious!

First Tooth!

Ok...so I thought that Kaiden got his teeth early compared to all my friends' kids. He got his first tooth about a week before he turned 7 months old. Hunter on the other hand got his first tooth this week. I found it yesterday when he was chewing on my fingers. I have heard that the earlier that kids get their teeth the more problems they could have with them. Has anyone else heard this? I am just not knowing what to think that he has gotten one this early! He's handling it really well though. This would explain why he's been a little more clingy and wanting to be held more. He's been drooling like crazy and chewing on everything he can get his hands on! That translates into washing A LOT of bibs! Anyways...when we can actually get a picture of the toothy grin we'll post it!

Totally Random Pictures Time

As the title says...Totally Random Pictures Time! I am too blogged out from catching everything up to say anymore than that!

Here's Hunter's bath is Melissa's sink...way to be creative Melissa! Hunter wasn't too sure what to think as you can tell.

Tummy time!

I found my feet!!

She's so his second mommy, and Hunter loves her!

Couldn't resist...Kaiden and his best friend Kaleb wrestling. If this is a sign of things to come from them we are in so much trouble Melissa!!!

Eating time is so much fun

Ok...We started Hunter eating rice cereal with apple juice a few weeks ago. He didn't really get the hang of it for a while and just looked at us like we were crazy when we tried to feed it to him. He would always spit it back out at us. Unintentionally we took a few days off from feeding him and I again went to give him the cereal yesterday while at Melissa's house. He began to do the same thing again. My cell phone rang so I passed the feeding off to Melissa. At some point she came running into the other room wanting my camera (so glad I took it to her house!). I got off the phone and went in to find Hunter eating the cereal and Kelsey (one of the twins who is 2 1/2 years old) feeding him. He was loving it and would only eat it for her. It was so funny we couldn't resist taking pictures and videos....which of course I can't resist sharing with you all. So here is Hunter yesterday eating.

Kelsey is such a little mom...I so need her to come to my house everyday and help me! I love her so much!!!

This is my shy come hither look...is it working?

This is just a cute eating my spoon picture....there always has to be one of these in the scrapbook!

Pumpkin Patch

I was so excited this day! I know it's a bit early to be going to the pumpkin patch the last weekend in September, but we gotta take what we can get and Jerry just happened to not have to work that Saturday until 5:30 so we took advantage! Those days are few and far between and we cherish any family time we can get with our crazy schedules. You'll have to forgive that I has snap happy while there. I am still trying to get a great picture of Kaiden and Hunter together. That has yet to really happen. There are some cute and funny ones for various reasons, but none with them both looking at the camera and smiling. Oh well, I've been told by many that it could take a while to get.

Anyways back to the pumpkin patch. We wanted to go with Kaiden last year but a time never presented itself. This year we weren't going to let that happen. It was a great day outside and one that I'll remember for a while. We went to Stoney Creek Farms. It wasn't too busy and we were able to do everything from picking out pumpkins to pony rides without a wait in line! I love it when that happens.

Here's Kaiden and I when we first got there. It was cool enough for jackets...perfect for a day at the pumpkin patch.

Kaiden loves to ride ponies whenever he can and has never been afraid which is always a plus!

They had a bunch of these face cut outs of which we took pics at several, but here are the boys in the pumpkins. Kaiden is so somber. He has so much fun and smiled all the time but never when the camera was out. Most of the time he was so scattered in his thoughts and couldn't even focus to look at us because there was so much going on and so much to see!

Here's the first hay ride. I think that Hunter and Kaiden both could have ridden that hay ride forever. They loved the breeze and watching everything as it went by!

Here's the ever popular family picture! I love these. It would be perfect if the boys were smiling too, but at least they are looking at the camera at the same time. Hey...that's a step in the right direction.

I love this picture....it's so my favorite of the day! The little pumpkin in his lap is the one Kaiden picked out for him. so cute!

This is one of those funny ones of the boys. I can only imagine what is going through Hunter's mind as he is looking at Kaiden like that!

Sleepy Boy!

I have always been someone who can go to sleep just about anywhere. My son must have inherited this from me. However, it always amazes me how babies can fall asleep in the strangest positions and even strange places! We have yet to have him fall asleep in his dinner as Kaiden has before, but here are some pictures to illustrate my point with Hunter. We'll rank them.....

in fourth place is Hunter falling asleep in the swing...that's pretty commonplace.

in third place is him sleeping in the car seat. We usually fall asleep there at least once a day if we are out...

Taking second would be in Kaiden's room on his rug. I had given the boys their baths and was getting Kaiden set up in the other room on the couch with some strawberry milk and when I walked back in to get the baby this is what I found...

And the winner is one that Jerry texted me on my phone while I was at work and I called him right away to take a regular picture. I love how even one of his socks has fallen off! haha...he'll go to sleep anywhere if tired enough!

Trip to the Zoo

So this entry will take us back to Labor Day! It's been forever since I have blogged and even longer since my computer has let me have the memory to store the new pictures off the camera. So we had a family day and went to the Indianapolis Zoo with the Days. It was so much fun and nice to just get out of the house. Kaiden has a blast. He is so obsessed with animals and he told everyone all the animals he saw for days after going. I think he was really excited about seeing the lemurs. The special exhibit was the koalas, but i don't think he was too impressed. Although Jerry is proud of the fact that Kaiden knows koalas are marsupials. Hunter just loves to be outside so he wasn't so much impressed with the animals as much as he just loved to be out of the house. It's was a beautiful day and we got there just as they opened so we were done by the time it got too hot! Here's some pics from that trip to show ya'll!

Here's Jerry and the baby. He was just chillin'! This was before he fell asleep. It's funny how they get worn out doing nothing!

Here's Kaiden and Kelsey riding the Carousel. Of course Kaiden had to be an ape! He's such a little monkey himself!
